Wonderful Plans Formed Long Ago

Wonderful Plans Formed Long Ago

As Isaiah sees the scene unfold before him in the vision from the LORD Himself, he begins to see clearly how all the things God had planned from long ago fit together in a beautiful tapestry. The full picture became clear and he begins to worship the LORD for His might wonders and how He executed His plan for human history with perfect faithfulness. Where people today look around and see chaos, questioning the goodness of God for allowing sin and death, Isaiah worships God for who He Is and what He has done and will do.

In regard to Jerusalem itself and the other nations, Isaiah is shown their rise and the ruin God had planned for each one. As the nations begin to understand the perfect plan of God, they will worship God too for how He performed His works. They will see how God was a defense for the helpless and needy in distress, a refuge from the storm, and a shade from the heat. The righteous judgments of God are not like the breathing of the wicked, which consume and destroy everything around them with no regard for life or peoples. God has not been and will never be like the wicked. What He will do is silence the ruthless and wicked.

The LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on the mountains of Jerusalem. Though Jerusalem will be laid waste from Isaiah’s day forward, the LORD Himself will descend and reign from that Place He chose for His Name to dwell. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb will be held there, people from all nations of all times will gather and enjoy a great feast with aged fine wine and choice meats. On that mountain, the LORD will remove the blinding veil over the nations so they can truly see and know Him for Who He Is. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and Death will be no more.

The LORD will remove the reproach of Israel for their continuous rebellion against Him, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said among them in that day, ‘Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited. Let us rejoice and be glad in His Salvation.’ And who will they say this about? It will be Jesus, God incarnate, the Eternal Creator and Savior. Jesus Himself will save the remnant of Israel and they will praise the LORD for His Salvation!

Isaiah was shown this mystery and worshiped God for His mighty works. And he saw how God would rest His hand on the mountain of Jerusalem, but that He will tread down Moab like straw is trodden down in the water of a manure pile. God will spread out His hands over Moab and bring them low, remove the trickery and pride, and cast down the fortified walls like dust on the ground. He will remove His enemies Himself.

Praise be to God for His glorious plans made long ago and His faithful and complete fulfillment of all He said He would accomplish. He is Worthy!
