The Coming Reign of God

The Word of YHWH came again to Isaiah. Whenever the Old Testament uses this phrase, one way to interpret it is that God Himself in the form of the Angel of the LORD personally came to a person. The pre incarnate Christ as the Word of God walked, ate, and talked with many men from Adam to Enoch, to Noah and Abraham, to Moses, Elijah and Elisha, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and many others. The Word of YHWH came and spoke to Isaiah concerning a far future day when God Himself would reign physically in Jerusalem on this earth.
"Now it will come about in the Last Days,' God told Isaiah, 'The mountain of YHWH will be established as the chief of the mountains, and will be raised above the hills; and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, 'Come, let us go to the mountain of YHWH, to the house of the god of Jacob; that He may teach us His ways, and that we may walk according to His paths.'' This yet future event looks far off to a day when YHWH Himself will come from Heaven to earth and reign in the city of Jerusalem. The mountain of God is raised above all other hills, which would require the earth to shake and move tremendously. Zechariah also would receive a vision of this day and records in Zechariah 14:4 that when the Day of YHWH comes, He will gather all nations to battle against Jerusalem, and then YHWH Himself will fight against those nations and judge the wicked. His feet shall stand n the Mount of Olives on the east side of Jerusalem and the earth will split in two to make a great valley for those in Jerusalem to flee from their enemies through. It will be a great earth shaking event when God comes to earth.
John records a similar event in Revelation. Earthquake are mentioned in Revelation 6, 8, 11, and 16. All of these event precede the Coming of Jesus to reign in Jerusalem. Jesus rides His white horse with His robe dipped in the blood of His enemies to defeat the gathered armies surrounding Jerusalem in the Valley of Jehoshaphat. He calls for the birds to come and eat the flesh of commanders and kings, then He takes His throne in Jerusalem to reign for 1000 years until all enemies are subdued. In that future Millennial Reign, Jesus will be the King of all kings and all the nations will come before Him to learn of His ways.
Isaiah sees a glimpse of this event. He sees the Law going forth from Zion - the Temple Mount where Jesus will reign. Jesus is YHWH and He will personally judge the nations and render decisions between many peoples. The nations will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. There will be no more war! It is only when Jesus reigns as King over all that this world will ever experience the peace of God. It also helps that Satan is bound in the Abyss at this time.
The city of Jerusalem had once been a city of righteousness, focused on the worship of the One True God. By Isaiah's day, it had become a cesspool of political corruption and all the people from the leaders to the poorest of the land were vile and wicked. Though Jerusalem was that way and would soon face total destruction there was hope. The future hope was that YHWH would reign there and He would make it better than it had ever been. Isaiah could be comforted knowing that though all seemed lost to the wickedness of man, a future Day of YHWH was coming when God would make all things right. The wickedness around him would be purged and men would one against desire to come before God and learn His ways. May that Day of the LORD come soon.
