Is This The Man Who Made The Earth Tremble?

Not only would Babylon fall, but when they did, The LORD would have compassion on Jacob. He would again choose Israel and plant them in their own land. They would be brought back from exile to the land promised to Abraham. This passage had several fulfillments - The Assyrian Exiles, the Babylonians Exiles, and all of the other times that the children of Israel have been removed from their land by other nations. Eventually Israel finds her way back to her land to fulfill these words. There will be a final future fulfillment when Jesus returns, draws the nations to Jerusalem to destroy them, and redeems the last and final remnant of Israel as they call on Him for Salvation. The words of this prophecy can apply to any of these times, with portions applying specifically to individual moments.
When Israel returns to her land, God promises that strangers would join them there. The nations would bring them back. Israel would take possession of the land again. They would even take captive at times those who took them captive as slaves. They would rule over their oppressors, even if momentarily. The LORD would give them rest from the pain, turmoil, and harsh service He subjected them to due to their sins and rebellion against Him. When Babylon fell, they would take up a taunt against them and their king. They would speak of how God broke the staff of the wicked rulers which was used to strike them with fury.
One day the whole earth will be at rest when God breaks the power of the wicked. Those is the depths of Sheol will be excited as those who attempted to control the world will become like them. The spirits of the dead resting the depths of Hell, even the former kings and tyrants of old, will say this to the king of Babylon, "Even you have been made weak as we, you have become like us. Your pomp and the music of your harps have been brought down to Sheol. Maggots are spread out as your bed beneath you and worms are your covering." This is a staunch prophecy against any and all who seek to control the world - One day they will die and become worm food. They will die just like the rest and will end up in their eternal destination, which for many is Hell.
The words of Isaiah 14 shift slightly, as many interpret this portion to speak personally about Satan, but which can also be applied to leaders like the King of Babylon who sought to rule it all. "How you are fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, you who have weakened the nations. But you said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven, I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of Assembly, in the recesses of the North. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, to the recesses of the Pit. Those who see you will gaze at you, they will ponder over you, saying, "Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook the kingdoms, who made the world like a wilderness and overthrew its cities, who did not allow the prisoners to go home?"
Those who seek to rule the world might learn something from these words of God. Their end is death and even the strongest of them will never thwart the Will of the Sovereign God. Though they gain much wealth, strength, and power from those who support and follow them, they too will die. One day they will be buried like a common man and become a memory. Satan himself, who sought to sit above the throne of God and be worshiped as God, will one day be cast into the Abyss for 1000 years, then into the Lake of Fire for eternity. He will burn just like the rest of the sinner who set themselves against God, to the ire of those burning alongside him.
God says all of the kings of the earth would have their tombs of honor on earth but the king of Babylon and Satan will not have a grave of honor. Both will be cast out like a rejected branch. They would go down into the pit. The Antichrist Beast and False Prophet who deceive he nations in Revelation will be immediately cast into the Lake of Fire when Jesus returns, as Satan suffers chained in the Abyss until he joins them. Why the dishonor and no burial? Because they trampled the nations, ruined countries, slain their own people, and done so much evil to the world that they will be slaughtered along with those who followed them. They will never arise to take possession of the earth again.
The LORD Himself will arise up against them and cut them off. Babylon will be no more. It will be a desolation forever. The LORD of Hosts has sworn, saying, "Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned, so it will stand, t break the yoke of Assyria in My land and I will trample him on My Mountains. Then his yoke will be removed from them and his burden removed from their shoulders. This is the plan against the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out against all the nations. The the LORD of Hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? and as for His stretched out hand, who can turn it back?"
What these words tell us is that God would raise up Babylon to destroy Assyria, both of them tools used by God to rebuked and be calamity against His own people for their sins against Him. Their destruction would extend to all the nations and cumulate with the absolute fall of the whole world when He returns Himself, to trample them all down on the Mountains of Israel. Revelation 19 shows us this event. This is a warning even against our own nation which is attempting to protect and rescue Israel, but will ultimately fall alongside the rest in the near future. Only God will be king over all, and only then will there be true peace.
