God Vs False Gods

Who is like the One True God? Can any of the gods of the nations do the things that God has done? Can any of the false gods arrange the future plans of history and make them come to past? If they can, let them come forth and speak. 

YHWH asked, ‘Who has aroused one from the east, whom He calls in righteousness to His feet?’ Did any of the false gods call forth Babylon and empower them to lay waste to all the surrounding nations including Assyria so that they could come to Jerusalem and lay it waste also and destroy the Temple? Did any of these false gods call forth call forth the generations and place Babylon in its location and give it strength? No, the LORD alone did that. 

YHWH alone is the first and last. He is the Alex and Tav, the beginning and end. He is the self existent One, the Creator of all things. There is none like Him.

God calls forth the nations and their idols before Him. He wants them to bring the idols to Him for judgment. He points out that Israel was His chosen people, albeit the most rebellious people who ran after idolatry instead of their own God. God would scatter them to the ends of the earth, and from there being them back. He would be their strength and would uphold them with His righteous right hand. the fact that God would do that points out the obvious - the false gods of the nations cannot affect the plan of God for Israel or for the entire world. Though they had turned to idols, and because of that God would bring down the calamities promised in the Law of Moses on them, yet God would keep His covenant and redeem them from these things. They would be afflicted and thirst, God would help them. He would provide for them so that they could see that the hand of God has done this. 

Can any of the false gods foretell the future or set it up and carry it out? No, only God can do that. Only God alone can tell what will happen long before nations even exist, bring the nations into existence, and then give them the power to perform the task He appointed them for, and then bring them low. God alone does these things. 

The LORD has looked out on Israel to see if there is any good messenger or counselor, but He found none. Things would get worse in Isaiah’s days, and until Babylon came to exile them. When God looked He found none who could speak for Him. They had all turned to idolatry. So God would come Himself to redeem His people.
